Established in 1998, the Medical Applications Group at PDR is dedicated to meeting the demand for product development expertise and technological solutions from the medical sector.
The Group conducts collaborative projects with medical device manufacturers, hospitals, research centres, charities and museums, in the areas of medically related research, design, product development and manufacture. These projects have led to the development of innovative practices and products, which have been disseminated internationally through journal publications and conference presentations.
The group is also one of Europe’s leading suppliers of medical models, which are used by clinicians to aid in reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation. PDR has supplied over 800 medical models to more than 60 hospitals, companies, museums, universities and research centres worldwide.
The group formed a formal collaboration with the Maxillofacial Unit at Morriston Hospital, Swansea called the Centre for Advanced Reconstructive Technologies in Surgery (CARTIS)
